Couch Bed, Bear, & M&M Jar

When Cherstin was here last summer we purchased these fold out beds for our girls. It was probably the best frivolous purchase I have ever made. Emily used it when we went to Utah for Julies wedding, she has used it when she is scared and comes into our room in the middle of the night, and dare I forget to mention she uses it when she is playing "team work" with Abby or Hannah. Well, this last week when she was sick she used too. The whole time she was laying on it in the family room Mordecai would try to climb all over her or it, so we decided to buy him one since we are going to Utah this weekend, and for his inevitable reasons for coming into our room in the middle of the nights in the near to distant future.

We also went to the mall and had a bear made for Mordecai since he is always trying to take Emily's bear named Fabulous. He was so excited and wont even let Emily touch it. When she tries he swats at her. It is kind of fun to watch the pay back.

And last but not least...Emily's M&M jar. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I was having a hard time with Emily and getting her to listen and it felt like I was yelling at her ALL the time. So I grabbed a mason jar from the basement and marked a line toward the top and explained to her that if she listened the first time, or did things that made us happy without us asking she would get an M&M, but if we had to ask her more than once she would lose and M&M, and once she got to the lone marked on the jar she would get something special. So far it is working pretty well. I still have days where I feel like just yelling at her and taking away all of her M&M's but I guess that is to be expected. I do have to say that there is a lot less contention in our home. Now who do I sound like...MOM.

Now it is off to finish cleaning and laundry so I can pack for Utah tomorrow.

Mario (Daddy) & Birthday Girl (Mariah)

Well Saturday we were invited to a birthday party from a little girl that used to be in our ward. It was a huge blow up water slide and the adults got to go down too. It was so much fun and a lot of good eats, but unfortunatley Emily came down with what Mordecai had so we left earlier than we would have liked but it was still fun. Emily was sick all night and we didn't go to church but by Sunday afternoon she seemed tons better. Today both kids are back to their normal energetic selves which means cleaning for me.

Ballet Class Video

Friday was Emily's last ballet class for this session and she did so well. I am so proud of her and how much she has learned. We signed her up for the next session which starts July 10th, and they will have a recital for it so that means they will work on one particular routine. So much fun. Here is the video.

Vomit

So I am a bit overdue for an entry. This past week was not so fun. Mordecai came down with some bug on Wednesday. At first I though maybe he had heat stroke from the pool on Tuesday, but I was wrong. Wednesday, we were sitting outside of Discount Tires having lunch and waiting for our tires to be rotated when out of the blue Mordecai throws up. At first I thought he gagged himself, whats new, on a hard french fry. After the tires were rotated I was planning on going right across the parking lot to get our oil changed for our trip so I didn't want to go home to get him clothes then come all the way back, so I was white trash and did it with him just in a diaper. When we got home he slept for a long time and then we went to Kohl's to get me a new swim suit and to look at red jewelry for Kim. The minute I put the car in park Mordecai threw up again and that was when I knew he was sick. I love that I can see it in my kids' eyes when they aren't feeling well. Anyway he was sick for a good 3 days, and I just need to say that he is a bad sick kid. He whines and moans the whole time, whereas Emily just sits there and sleeps or vomits and then lays back down. This whole process just solidifies the theory that I have that men/boys are the worst at being sick cause Mike is a whiny and moans when he is sick too.

Father Day

Today is officially Mikes 3rd Fathers Day, not that it really matters. So this morning because it was Fathers Day he didn't have PEC so we actually got to go drive to church together and then back home. We ate cereal for breakfast, what else do you think Mike would pick, and then it was off to church, but not before some pictures.
Once we were at Church I had Lexy take some family pictures of us
Mike was kid free during Sacrament, Sunday School, and Priesthood, lucky him. ;) During the 3rd hour of Church the primary kids brought in the gifts for the Dad's and sang them songs. The gift was a bow tie made out of skittles. After we got home it was present time. First he got a Frisbee from Emily.
The next gift was from Mordecai, and it was a pair of goggles. He needed a new pair since his were old and since we left them at the pool. His final gift was from all of us. Mike has had these flip flops that he likes, but they were getting old and worn out, so we bought him a new pair.

Fathers Day Dinner and Anniversary Date Night

Last night the kids and I took Mike out for dinner to celebrate Fathers Day. We decided to try this place, The Village Tavern, that was suggested to us by one of his coworkers. It was a pretty good place. Mike got this chicken sandwhich that he kept making 'mmmm' noises while eating and I got this blackened chicken Penne that I shared with Mordecai. Emily had grilled cheese and we all had some fries. After dinner on the way home we picked up our babysitter, Morgan Tora, and the kids went nuts. Mordecai was supposed to go to sleep when we got home, but he was too excited. Mike and I barely made the7:30 showing of Star Trek, which I really enjoyed thanks to watching the t.v. episodes with Daddy, and were home by 9:45. It was a great night and it has been a wonderful, but trying 5 years. I really do have a wonderful life!!!(So this isn't the best picture of us, but it was the best out of all of the ones we took.)

Amature Picture Taking

Yesterday morning I took a quick shower and headed downstairs cause it was too quiet. This is what I found. Emily has been asking if she can use our new camera and I have been telling her no, so she took matters into her own hands and found it on her own.

The Kitchen:

I think this one is a picture of her leg.
This one was taken upside down. The blur in the picture is Mordecai running.
This one...I have no idea.
After I cleaned up the wipes Mordecai pulled out we headed over to the Butterfly Pavilion with Lexy and Hannah. After that we had ballet class for Emily at 11:30, which she did very well at listening and following her teacher. So well in fact that I wish I had taken the camera. On the way home Mordecai fell asleep and after lunch Emily crawled up on the couch to "cuddle" with me and she fell asleep too.So I had the rest of the afternoon alone to myself which is very, very rare.

Dentist

On Thursday the 11th Emily had her first dentist appointment. Mike and I were a little worried about setting up an appointment for her, but she kept talking about it so we did. I was so shocked at how well she did. They had her hold the sucker tool so that she could suck stuff out when she needed. She also asked if she could where her sunglasses because the light was in her face. (For the life of me I can't figure out why she loves this one particular pair). After she was done I was worried the Dentist was going to scold me for not staying on top if her teeth brushing, but they didn't, in fact they said her teeth looked great!! I once heard that eating apples was like brushing your teeth, so maybe all the fruit she eats worked...who knows. Before we went home they gave her a "goody bag" full of toothpaste, toothbrush, ACT, and a sticker, and because she was a great patient they let her dig for a prize in their "treasure chest". The only concern they have is about her slight under bite, but said they can't do anything about that until her 6 year old molars come in. Until then we will continue to brush, brush, brush.
