Ocotober Festivities

This is our Halloween festivities for the year. On the 22nd of this month we had the Wing's, and Grip's over for dinner and our annual pumpkin carving. It was a great time. The Grip's have a boy, Max, that is like 8 months older than Mordecai. They also have a girl, Addie, about a year older than Emily.  The "twosomes" seem to get along real well.

Last night was our ward trunk-or-treat. Mordecai absolutely loved it this year and of course so did Emily. For a while they wanted to be the kids from the "Incredibles", but all of a sudden they got hooked on "Justice League" and Emily had this idea she wanted to be 'Wonder Woman'. So one day while at Wal-Mart I decided to look at costumes and they had a 'Wonder Woman' costume along with 'Batman' whom Mordecai loves too. So that is who they were.

1st Ever Primary Program

Today was Emily's first primary program. I was able to teach the majority of the songs to the primary kids, and as a bonus I got to sit up the stand with the kids as a sub. It is amazing to me the Spirit you feel when they sing the songs...even if they are out of tune, or off key, or even singing the wrong words/adding words. I got a little teary when they sang, "I Know that My Savior Loves Me", and "The Church Of Jesus Christ". I think it is very important that all of Heavenly Father's children know the love he has for us and who we are. When I chose the verses for "Follow the Prophet" (Daniel, Nephi, Joesph Smith, and President Monson) I wanted the kids to know the powerful promises that we can have if we follow what the Lord says. So, I guess you could say the whole program was touching to me...and I wouldn't say it was the hormones. Here is little Miss Emily before church. She also had the 1st Article of Faith as her part and was so excited to give it.

Emily's Reading!

Emily has been having reading lessons on a daily basis for about 3 1/2 - 4 months.  I first started and wasn't consistent, but then I decided that this may help her eye with having to focus on certain things that were little (the words).  Then one day she saw a commercial for a pillow pet and I decided I would buy it for her, but told her she had to complete her reading lessons before she could have it.  There are 100 lessons and she only had about 32 left when we made the deal.  Since then she has been real anxious to finish, even doing 2 lessons a day sometimes.  She finished last week and was so excited to read a story on the phone to Grandma Rogers, and couldn't wait to record it and put it on the blog for Grandma Bainbridge to see (she never answers the phone to actually read them to her).  So here she is. Enjoy!

Ruby Marie Rogers

I guess it is time for me to update the ol' blog here.  This past Tuesday (10/5//10) I headed to the Temple to do sealings with Kristal and Marci.  It was Kristal's first time doing sealings, and it has been kind of special for me to be there with her when she experiences her "firsts".  I was there when she had the opportunity to do the baptism for her Mom, which was also her first time in the Temple, and then again when she went through the Temple for her own endowment.  Afterwards the 3 of us hit Chili's for dinner and dessert.  It was a wonderful time full of great food, company and conversation.

The next day, Wednesday, the kids and Mike and I headed to Dr. Huynh's (OB) office to find out the sex of our little one.  I was pretty sure at the beginning of this pregnancy that this one was a girl, but later I kind of flopped when Mike mentioned to me that I was carrying this one like I carried Mordecai.  Then I flopped again and went back to thinking it was a girl because I have acne like I did with Emily...granted not as bad, but still it is there every once in a while.  Also my chest is sore, like with Emily.  I had none of these symptoms while pregnant with Mordecai.  Then I flopped again when I was at the Temple thinking that it was a boy. Who knows maybe that is a feeling that Mike and I are going to have another boy...someday.  Well the ultrasound tech did her job and measured the little thing and then asked if we wanted to know the sex, and if we had any guesses.  Emily immediately said "girl" and Mike and I said we honestly didn't know but didn't care either, we just wanted a healthy baby.  The ultrasound tech looked at Emily and told her she was right, it is a little girl.  Ruby Marie Rogers.  Anyway, after we met with Dr. Huynh and she went over the ultrasound results with us.  She said that everything looks great except the tech noted the size of her kidney's.  A baby's kidneys are supposed to measure 2mm, hers were dilated a bit, her right measured 2.3mm and her left was 2.8mm.  Dr. Hunyh said she wasn't worried because this is a common thing and the bag of water was plenty full which is the baby's urine, but by law they have to note it.  So what does that mean...it means I get to have another ultrasound next month when I go back in. :)  Anyway, Ruby is measuring in the 28.8% which is normal and weighs about 9 ounces.  Hopefully she weighs between Emily and Mordecai's weight, not above her brothers weight when she is born.  I was also told that my placenta is in the front cushioning all the little movements, which explains why I don't feel her as much as I did the other two.  The ultrasound tech warend me that that was going to change once she got bigger because as far as she could tell Ruby moves more than most baby's do at this age (19 weeks and 3 days).  Lucky me, I will have 3 hyper, crazy, loud, but beautiful kids.
