First Major Snow Fall

We got our first snow that stuck last night. The little girls were so excited to go and play in it. So instead of doing homework like I should have, I bundled everyone up and we went sledding, built a snowman, knocked it over, and then came in for hot cocoa with whipped cream, sprinkles, and mini marshmallows. While I should have been studying... this was way better and much more needed. I feel like I neglect the girls a ton because of school, so I think I'm going to change my major, because family is more important to me.

Snow Fun

We have had a ton of snow so Mike and I decided that we would take the kids out and play in it. We built snowmen, went sledding and I spent a good two hours building a snow fort with Emily.

Sledding

This past Wednesday we went out and purchased some sleds so that the kids and I could go sledding, well at least Emily and I. This morning was perfect cause it was warming up, but we still had a ton of snow from the storm that we had earlier in the week. It is also perfect cause just across the street in the greenbelt, behind Don and Angela's fence is a little hill so we didn't have to go far from home. So I bundled Emily up in her snow gear and me in my boots and jacket and we hit the "hill". Emily loved it, and Mordecai and Mike stayed in the house cause they both hate the snow and cold.

These were taken from the bathroom window on our first floor.Later I enticed them out to take pictures and videos of us, and they both eventually took turns sledding.

After sledding for about an hour Emily and I made snow angels, well we attempted to since the snow was so packed, first we started in the shallow snow and no success for Emily, the we went deeper and she just sank.
Once we were done with snow angels I took Mordecai inside to make hot chocolate, while Mike and Emily stayed outside and built our snowmen family. I would of stayed outside with them, but all I had on was a pair of lounge pants and they are not anything like snow pants, so I was cold.

Snow Day # 2

Some more pictures of the snow storm we had. The whole family went out to shovel the driveway and sidewalks this morning. It was cold, but fun.

Snow Day

Typically in Colorado we don't have our first snow fall until Halloween of even after. This year has been very different! We had snow before but not a ton, then a few days before Halloween we were hit pretty hard and so the kids and I went out to shovel.
Mordecai and Emily like to use their garden shovel and ho, I think it is rather fun to watch. The snow was so wet and heavy that we thought some of the branches on our trees were going to break off. We probably got about 18-20 inches, it was A LOT!

Snow=Shopping

This morning we were rudely awaken by Emily running into our room at 7:30, the only time that has happened in a long long time, yelling, "Mom, Dad, get up it is snowing outside and I want to go make a snowman and a snow angel." Well we had to burst her bubble to tell her there wasn't enough snow to do either of those, but that we could go buy snow boots, snow pants and a coat for Mordecai when it did snow enough, cause we knew he would want to be out there with her. Mike had to go help someone move so the kids and I hit Target to get the gear. We ended up having to buy all new gear for Emily since all the stuff we bought her last year was 3T. I also bought a bench for people to sit on while they take their shoes on and off, since we are going to start implementing that rule in our house in preparation for our floors to be sanded. So I need a little bit of help on where to place it. I would ideally like a corner bench to put by the stairs, but those are way to expensive and this I couldn't pass up for $60 bucks. So take a look and let me know where you think it should go. My mom and I have the same opinion, but I wont write so it wont persuade you to write what I think.

Place #1

Place #2

Place #3
This evening we went and did our Christmas shopping for the kids. Mike and I like to have shopping done before Thanksgiving, so we don't have to worry about crowds or finding something that our kids will like. So I am in a happy place.

Snow Day

I am finally going to post! Can't believe it??? Well I can't either. At the end of the day I am to tired to want to sit down and think some more, I just want to sit and unwind by doing nothing that uses mind power. So, anyway...lets see...last week on Thursday we had that snow storm where we got about 16 inches here at our house, and Mike was sent home early. Well, he didn't go to work that Friday either so we went out and shoveled the walk and driveway as a family cause we hadn't been outside in 2 days and the kids energy were killing me.

So the snow was so dry and the whole time it was snowing Emily kept talking about building a snow man. Mike and I tried to explain it to her, but she just didn't understand. So Mike and I coaxed her to just play in it. It was fun to see her play in it, she would actually dive into it, hence some of our pictures. She actually got stuck in some parts of the snow and Mike and I had to pull her out, it was quite amusing.

After we shoveled and showered we headed out to buy some tile for our fire place. I know you all want to see pictures but you will just have to wait until it is all finished, which will be this week. I hope.

Bumps & Bruises

Going back to Sunday night. So Mike, Mordecai, Emily and I were all in her room getting the kids ready for bed when Emily asks Mike to chase her. Well he pretended to chase her and when she ran out of her room he stopped to play with Mordecai. Emily turned around and noticed he wasn't behind her so she can back in and asked again. This time Mike did and when she came back running towards him she was goofing off and hit her head on the side of the the door casing to her room. Immediately Mike grabbed her and when we looked at her head we saw this huge goose egg. Mike went downstairs to get an ice pack and I grabbed her some Tylenol. Her head looked better Monday, but worse yesterday and today. I have tried to take some pictures of it to document, but the pictures just do not do it justice. We are so lucky it didn't split or bust open.

Monday we woke up to some snow and while I was making the bed and as Mike was getting ready to jump in the shower Emily comes bursting into our room yelling, "Hey! Get up it snowed outside. I saw it out my window." She was so excited since we have had a really dry winter this year, like 70 degrees in February which is supposed to be the snowiest month in Colorado. So as we are headed downstairs for breakfast she proceeds to tell us that she is going to go out and shovel the walks and that she needs her snow pants on. I tell her that when Dad goes out to shovel she can go with him. Well Daddy burst her bubble cause there wasn't enough snow to shovel, so after crying he told her she could go play out back while we cleaned up after breakfast. She was so excited. She put on her snow pants, snow coat, hat, and gloves. She had a great time playing and kicking in it. After a while she knocked on the door and informed me that she needed a scarf. I got her one of mine and Mike wrapped it around her. I have no idea where she learned about those since I never wear one...in fact I am wondering why I even have one. Well once she came in she wouldn't take the scarf off so I just had to take some pictures.

Also on Monday Mike had a doctors appointment. *Stop here if you don't want to know anymore about the visit. I am writing this since this is my journal* Mike has been suffering from some bleeding off and on and itching off and on from his bottom. He found out that he had 4 internal hemorrhoids. They banded 2 of them and hopefully those will die and fall off in 2 weeks and then in 3 weeks he goes back and has the other 2 remaining banded. Then hopefully he will be all better.
Today was play group at our house and we had a pretty good turn out. Then the kids and I took Valerie Witte and family some dinner since they have a new little one. After dinner we had home teachers and now I am doing this since the kids are in bed and Mike is painting the guest room ceiling.
