Thanksgiving Week and Mike's Birthday

This last weekend we had Keith, Kim, Talisa, and Kira here for Thanksgiving. While they were here we just so happened to get to celebrate Mike's 37th birthday. We did a lot of stuff. First was Thanksgiving. Emily and Talisa played so well, that the adults hardly saw them. The next day was so gorgeous out that the girls played in the back with wagons and shovels. Then on Friday after Kim and I went shopping, of course, we headed out to go bowling and out to eat at BJ's (delicious potato bar). Saturday was dinner for Mike's birthday and as always he requested brownies and ice cream. Then as tradition on Sunday Mike played the piano and the kids danced themselves silly. The kids also enjoyed a good game of Elefun.

Daddy in the Hospital

So the Tuesday before Thanksgiving I was talking to Cherstin on the phone like I always do (it is our cleaning day, and we get more done when on the phone), and she asked me to hold on so she could take a call that was coming in from Joey. Well she was on with him for a while, and we were expecting to hear the news about Reah being born. When Cherstin got back on she had bad news about Dad. Supposedly all day Mom hadn't been able to get a hold of Dad, and so Carlie had heard Mom talking about her frustration about that to Cherstin or Felicia. So Carlie called Joey and told him to get home so he could find Dad, since Mom hadn't been able to get a hold of him. He did, and they started by calling Uncle Bob, and asking him to drive by the house and see if their car was in the driveway. It wasn't, so Joey started calling hospitals and found out that Dad was on a ventilator at a local hospital and had been there since Monday night. So Joey threw Mom's bags back into her car and sent her home to be with Dad. Joe said he would of went with her, except for the fact that Carlie was due any day, so he didn't.

After talking to Mom, she said she got to the hospital that morning around two and that they woke him up, but that he would have to keep the ventilator in until he was stable for an hour. Daddy, didn't really like it. After that, they did some more test and found there was fluid in the lung sac, and sent Daddy home after removing it. So he got to go home on Thanksgiving. It was a good thing Thanksgiving was canceled at Joey's.

The reason there wasn't any phone calls when Dad was admitted was because his cell phone had died. The story is that he drove himself to the hospital cause he was having trouble breathing, and some people walking in noticed he was having a hard time so they helped him in. As soon as he was in a room he collapsed and they inti-bated him so there wasn't time for some much needed information.

Since then he has been scolded by all, to never drive himself again, and to just call 911 to get an ambulance.

Emily's Prayer

I know I have some serious posting to do, but I tried to download pictures to this dinosaur and it wouldn't work. The picture I am posting was taken from my cell phone, so I could have a photo to post.

I just want to take a minute and write this story real quick so I wont forget. Just right now as we were sitting down to dinner Mike and I were talking about the things we were fasting for. Mike said he was fasting for Emily's eye, Anna, and for us to have more children. I said that I was fasting for more children, and for a couple in our ward (Kristal and Matt). After I said that I told Mike that I didn't know if we were going to have more children because I had this feeling that maybe the children part in a blessing I received meant the primary children I am teaching (music chorister). Well, right after I said that Emily piped in with, "Well, I will pray to the Lord tonight so you can have another baby." I told her that was sweet and she started eating her dinner. Halfway through dinner she got up from the table and started to walk away. I asked her where she was going, and she replied with, "I am going to go say a prayer so you can have another baby." She went all the way up to her room, and it was quiet for a little bit. Just as Mike and I were talking about how she probably got side tracked she started coming down the stairs. When she got back in her chair Mike asked her what she said in her blessing and she said here I will do it again. So Mike and I folded our arms and it went a little something like this. "Heavenly Father, bless Mom to have another baby, bless the orange to come out of my shirt, bless Mordecai to not be a brat, bless Mom to have another baby, name of Jesus Christ Amen." After she was done Mike and I both told her Thank You, and I said it is great to have such great faith. Well, right after I said that she said another prayer to bless her to have enough faith.

Weather we will have more children is an unknown right now, but I just wanted to share how sweet OUR Emily is. She is a great example to us about faith, and prayers, and every time she prays it is more and more thoughtful. We love her so very much.
