May was a busy month this year. Emily and Mordecai had their Summer piano recital, Joey and Tom came to town to run the Spartan Race with Mike. It was also the last month of school, soccer, and we said goodbye to our good friends the Smith.

May Catch Up

Jason, Mike's sister Julie's husband, moved in the beginning of this month for an internship in Denver this summer. It hasn't taken long for him to settle in. He has been such a big help with yard work and watching the kids so we can go out on dates.

For Mothers Day Mike took me out to Olive Garden and we only had Ivy. It was amazing how quiet dinner was and how Mike and I could talk without being interrupted or having to help someone.

My birthday also happened. The big 30. Felicia and Tom were here also because they were on their way back from an interview in Kansas. We went to Que Bueno for dinner, and then home to just visit and sleep.

Mike's parents also came out for Memorial Day weekend. They were able to attend Emily's field day and just enjoy the kids. I also enrolled Mordecai and Emily for the following school year. It is kind of crazy to think that my little mister is starting kindergarten. :-(

School ended the 30th and Emily cried. She has been incredibly lucky to have had such awesome teachers for kindergarten and 1st grade. She helped make this teacher gift for Mrs. Welch.

 

Dinning Room

We finally re-did the dinning room!  It was my Mothers Day/Birthday Present, but it took a while cause we had to wait for some crown molding we ordered.  While we painted the dinning room we also painted the breakfast nook too.  You can't really tell in the pictures because it is a cream/off white color called "Lovely Bone."  Anyway, the stripes on the bottom half of the dinning room wall are really hard to see in the pictures, but look really cool in person.  We also got a new light fixture because the one that was in there made me nervous every time we had dinner in there.  Anytime someone walked around upstairs the light would shake, and it was literally hinging by an electrical wire.  Of course we added the chair rail, crown molding, and window casings, and I also painted the mirror from gold to silver.  Now lets get onto to some pictures.

My Day #1 (Mothers Day)

Today was a wonderful Mothers Day/Weekend. It started with Friday night Mike and the kids took me out to dinner at this place called Ted's. The Olsen's and Reeds joined us. Then on Saturday Mike did a little bit of yard work while I cleaned the house. After lunch while Mordecai was asleep I made a quick get away to Hobby Lobby and Jamba Juice. I haven't been out shopping by myself...in I don't know how long. When Mordecai finally got up we went to Best Buy to look at car stereos for a possible Mothers Day gift. From there we headed over to Wal-Mart, shocker I know, to pick up a red shirt for Emily's ballet & tap recital. We also got Avatar on DVD and pizza for a movie night. Emily loved Avatar. I was a little worried, but she didn't seem to be frightened by it. After the kids were in bed Mike and I stayed awake to watch Sherlock Holmes and have cinnamon rolls for treats.

Sunday, the actual day, Mike let me sleep in. I don't know if 8:00 counts, but that was when I finally rolled out of bed. We had pancakes, eggs, bacon and juice for breakfast...yum! Then we went to church. The primary sang, "My Mother Dear" and did a wonderful job. I had a break from singing time, since the kids did a flower craft. AND Mordecai actually went to nursery. Granted he cried for a little, and Brett Bowen held him till he had to go to class, but he did. *Side note* Watch the video at the bottom. For dinner we had a couple, the Bowen's, in our ward over for Hawaiian Haystacks. They don't have kids, and the first time we had them over was last Mothers Day. Since then it has kind of been tradition to have them over on holidays. I have gone back and forth between 2 chairs and a table for the front porch, or to have the dinning room finished for my present, and I think I finally have decided that it is going to be the dinning room. Now for some pictures. I know there are a lot, but this is what makes me a Mother, my wonderful kids and Husband. I am one lucky Momma.
