New Years Eve Fun

This morning I woke up with major sinus pressure. I had been taking Sudafed and Tylenol cold and no relief whatsoever!!! I needed to run to King Soopers for dinner items, since we were having people over, so since I was there I decided to ask the pharmacist for some recommendation's. The recommendation I got was that I should go see the doctor, because Sudafed is the strongest over the counter medicine and if that wasn't helping then there was probably an underlying issue. I called Mike and had him give me Dr. Cavanagh's number so I could see if I could get in before the end of the day. I didn't even go home to drop off groceries, I went straight to their office, score! I got there, and was examined and got some amoxicillian for some sinus pressure. I have had this cold for 3 weeks so I am excited for some relief.

Tonight we had 2 couples and their kids over for dinner. Jon, Merideth, and Cole Dunning were only here till about 8:30 and Jon, Mandie Burton and kids were here until about 11:00. It was fun. We enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches and chips for dinner, and a little bit of "Dance Dance Mario", trampoline, and chatting afterwards.

Christmas Past

This past Christmas was a blast. We didn't take many pictures and yet I still have no reason why. On the Monday after Keith and Kim left, (11/30/09) we set up our Christmas tree. Emily loved it because she remembered so much from last year, and Mordecai loved it because Emily loved it, and plus there were balls that he wanted to throw. Sunday 12/6/09 we put together a gingerbread house. I bought 2 kits from Costco so that we could have some friends come over and build them for an FHE like we have done in the past, but it didn't work out this year. It was mostly Mike and Emily who built this one, with some help from me. Mordecai just wanted to eat the candy. Surprise, Surprise!

The following Sunday (12/13/09) we had Kristal and Matt over to do dinner and a gift exchange for the kids. Kristal made this chicken and noodle crock pot meal that kind of tasted like chicken and dumplings. After the kids opened their gifts they danced around the living room while Mike played the piano. After piano time the adults just sat around and chatted while Emily took pictures and kids got dressed in pajamas.The Monday before Christmas (12/21/09) we decided to make our last gingerbread house. This time it was more of a family effort, and Mordecai really liked putting the candy on it. Once he got a piece to stick on it, he would clap his hands and say, "Did it!". Christmas Eve was fun cause we took the kids sledding. They also really enjoyed opening our Christmas pajama's from Grandma and Grandpa Bainbridge. Mordecai got 'Cars' and Emily got a ballet set which they both loved.


The whole month of December our kids loved to eat their chocolates after dinner, advent calenders, singing "Jesus Was Born Today" by the Oakridge Boys, (Even Mordecai sang it, after only hearing it a couple of times), looking at the Christmas lights, and of course opening presents.

Christmas Day Santa brought the kids an 8' trampoline, it's in the basement. Emily got a plasma car, and Mordecai and remote controlled train. They also got clothes, toys, and games from us. These are pictures of the wall hangings I made for my Mom.

Middle of the Night Disturbance

This morning at 3:00 a.m. I was awakened by some unusual noise and footsteps down on the main level. It kind of freaked me out since I was in a hazy state, it being in the middle of the night and all, so I woke Mike up and told him that there were footsteps downstairs. He opened his eyes, looked at me and rolled over and went back to bed. After being irritated a couple of seconds later I hear Mordecai crying. I realized that he had gotten out of bed and went straight down stairs. When I got to him he was standing in front of the DVD player crying. When he saw me he immediately stopped and asked for "Choo-Choo...Thomas?" I picked him up and told him he was a silly boy, it was still night time and that he needed to go back to bed. He did and was such a happy boy all day today and even went to nursery which amazed me! The moral of the story for Mike is...he completely doesn't hear our kids let alone any noises in the middle of the night, and even if I wake him up to tell him there is a stranger or break in, he will just roll over and go back to sleep. :)

New Family Room

About the middle of November Mike finished our family room...well most of it. He did the mantel, and we painted. The things that are left to do are the ceiling (we need to texture it, and paint), crown molding, and baseboards. I love it!!! The paint picking was a process, cause I initially wanted to go with a neutral, but after thinking it over for a long time I decided I am not that type of person and opted for color. I love how it turned out, and I have to thank Mike for all his hard work and love.

Emily's Ballet Recital

Today Emily had her Ballet recital. She was sick the week before so I decided to take video of her at Ballet practice the week before just in case she was still feeling lousy the day of the recital. She did so good with watching an paying attention to her teacher. These last two sessions were better than the first 2 sessions cause she only had 2 other girls in her class this time and they were older, as opposed to the first 2 sessions where there were 6-8 other girls and were just barely 2 years old.

The first video is the Ballet Recital and the second one is rehearsal. A funny story. After she was done with her dancing we decided to stay and watch the rest of the performances. When she and I got back into the auditorium Emily leaned over and whispered to Mike, "Daddy, can I have my flowers now?" She had seen that some of the dancers received flowers when they were done. Mike and I headed to King Soopers to buy her some flowers afterwards and she was so happy.
