Swimming Gear

For the past 3 months Emily has been talking about how she can't wait until the leaves come back on the trees, because that means the swimming pool will open. Who knows where she learns these things, but it is still cute. Well the week before family came for Memorial Day I bought her theses goggles, and arm floaties because we told her when Grant and James got here the pool would open. So the Monday before they got here I told Emily they would be here this week, and she having no concept of time ran and found her goggles and floaties and asked if I would put them on her. I told her that her cousins wouldn't be here until Wednesday and that the pool wouldn't open until Saturday but she didn't care. So I put them on her and she danced to the music I was making dinner to for a good hour. I have the coolest kid ever

Feet

The other day I was feeding Mordecai and Emily some snacks when I noticed Mordecai sitting with his foot up on the table. It reminded me of when Emily was little and she used to sporadically stick her foot up on the table. This particular time with Mordecai though I put his foot down so Emily wouldn't think it was funny and start doing it, but no matter how many times I put it down he would put it back up and laugh. Seriously I put it down a good 10 times or more. Oh-well at least they weren't crying.

Memorial Day Weekend

* To see more pictures go here, http://s63.photobucket.com/albums/h159/desirogers/May%202009/?action=organize

Today Mike's 3 younger sister and family left. It was sad, but nice all in the same boat. We miss and love them dearly, BUT, it is nice to be back home all on our lonesome and back into a regular routine. About 10:00 I got the phone call from Keith and Kim that they had Kira this morning...well Kim had Kira this morning. She was born at 8:39 am, and weighed in at 6 lbs. 5 oz, and if I remember right 18 1/2 inches long. The story was very similar with my labor with Mordecai. We are grateful that everything went well, and we are hoping for pictures soon.

Backtracking...
Wednesday Kristilyn, Mark and the boys arrived about 7:00 pm. That night we just hung out after kids went down and planned what we were going to do on Thursday.
Thursday we hit the Zoo in the morning. I think the kids like the carousel and the train more than anything. I think the adults enjoyed the Parakeet exhibit where you get to feed them nectar. After the Zoo we got home just in time for me to make it to my annual doctors visit. That night we had dinner and played games. It was nice to get to know Kristilyn and Mark on a more personal level. I almost forgot. I went and picked up my birthday gifts, check here.
Friday we hung out until Mike went and got Julie and Jason at the airport, and then that was another night of dinner, planning, and games after Brandon and Melly arrived about 8:00.
Saturday we did the Butterfly Pavilion, still don't think it is worth the price, and then had a picnic lunch in the back yard, per Emily's request. We played around in the back and then had a BBQ for dinner. Unfortunately we had to eat inside cause it started to rain, which continued the rest of the week/weekend until this morning...SAD.
Sunday we did Church of course, and then after the kids were in bed Julie prepared a wonderful FHE for the adults on remembering, we then listened to an excerpt from Grandpa Rasbands funeral and then shared a trait we learned or wanted from our Grandparents. It was a true Rogers FHE, and mom Rogers would have been proud.
Monday morning the girls went out to breakfast at IHOP, and then we headed over to the Westminster Mall to see the great deals at Dillard's. Sad to say not one of us found anything. About 3:00 Melody and Brandon headed out to go back home. Then around 4:00 the remaining of us hit Adventure golf, mini golf, and then dinner at Red Robin.

It was so much fun, and crazy, and hectic, but well worth it. Thanks guys for coming!

Birthday Gifts

For my birthday Mike bought me a chair and side table for our family room. The chair was on back order until the end of June, so I decided that on Friday I was going to go and pick up our side table at least. Well I got there and had to exchange it before I picked it up because we wanted the 'Chocolate Maple' console and they sold us the 'Chocolate Oak'. Well when I did that I go some money back because they had marked down the prices even more because of the Memorial Day sale. Also while I was there I asked them if they by chance would know if they would be getting the chair in that we ordered, so the lady checked and just our luck they had one in the store so I got both my chair and side table. I brought them home and set them up, and I am so excited!! I am not for sure on how I like the table decorations so they might change, but for now here are some pictures.

Birthday weekend...early

Friday night Mike took us out for my birthday dinner since we will have family here next weekend. We ended up trying this new place called BJ's. It was pretty yummy!!! Mike got this potato that started out at 2-3 pounds and then they stuffed it with grilled chicken, broccoli, cheese, and Alfredo sauce. It was delicious. I got a BBQ chicken salad that was AWESOME, and Emily ordered the mini burger that came with 2 mini hamburgers so she and Mordecai shared that. Afterwards we went to American Furniture Warehouse to look at the chair and sofa table/t.v. console thing. After w got there we noticed things were on sale so we ended up buying both, great birthday gift!!!!!! The only sad part was that the chair we ordered, that matches our sectional perfectly, is on back order until the end of June. So the reason we ordered it now was supposed to be so we would have an extra seat in our family room for family but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. We have yet to pick up the side table thingy cause we did a day full of yard work yesterday. When I say a day full I mean a 12 hour day. We did this cause the enrichment night in June is a BBQ at our house, so I wanted to have the yard somewhat presentable. So hopefully by Tuesday we will have the stand thing and the kids wont be able to reach the things on the top like they can with our current one.

Today was a regular Sunday though. Mordecai and Emily seemed a little wired during Sacrament, but not to bad. Mordecai didn't sleep well last night because he is cutting his molars. He went to bed at his normal time, 8:15, but then was up again at 10 screaming inconsolably. After about an hour and no relief from the medicine I decided to drive him around to see if it would calm him down. No such luck I drove for 15-20 minutes with him screaming intermittently. Finally I came home and Mike took him to the basement to play a little bit of Halo and then he seemed to calm down after his second dose of Ibuprofen. He then slept only from 12:00 to 2:30 in the morning. I got up and tried to calm him down and that didn't work either, so I went downstairs and watched t.v. with him until 5:00. He then slept until 10 minutes before we had to leave for church. I hate it when kids always have problems the nights that you have to be up early. I was so tempted to stay home from Church because I didn't want to juggle a whiny and squirmy kid from lack of sleep, but I went and I am thankful that I did. Now the kids are in bed and I am thinking I am going to go to bed since I have a packed week until family gets here.

Yard Work

This weekend we did a lot of yard work...well I should say that I did a lot of yard work. Wednesday night Mike and I mowed the yard, me with the rider and him with the push mower. Then after I trimmed the edge with the weed eater while Mike did something else that I can't think of, oh yeah he was trying to turn our sprinklers on. Then the 4 bushes under our kitchen bay window were infested with bees all summer long. I know that bees are good for pollinating, but I am not a big fan of them so close to the house, so I began the process of ripping them out on Thursday. I clipped all of the branches I could with our electric trimmer, and then about 10:00 Lexy showed up with their saws all so then we sawed of the monster branches. I am to weak to pull the actual bush itself out of ground so Mike will have to do that some time soon. I hope to plant some stuff there, but I need to go down to an actual nursery with a printed layout of the area so they can give me some ideas of what to put in there.

Saturday morning we had Westminster City pride day. Our ward volunteered, so we were assigned to clean a park. After we cleaned the park we hit Home Depot for some sprinkler stuff, since our sprinkler pipe was cracked, and lineloeum tile pieces for our laundry room floor. When we got home Lexy came over again and we tilled up our raised flower beds and then headed over to her house to till up her flower beds in preperation for some flowers. I have yet to buy them and would love some people to suggest some great combinations.

One of these yard days/nights we ate outside so here is a picture. Enjoy!

Home Day

Yesterday was a GREAT day. About 9:30 I got a phone call from Mike telling me that the power went out at work. He had nothing to do so we talked for about 5 minutes. Before we hung up I asked if he was just going to come home, knowing that he really wouldn't, and he said the power should be coming on soon. I continued through my house chores, laundry, sweeping, and bathrooms when Mike called again about 11:00. He said the power still hadn't come back on, and he was going to come for lunch,YAY!!!!, and then do some stuff on the house. When he got home the kids were so excited to see him, Mike called into work about 12 to check if the power had come back on and it hadn't and work recommended that people just go home. Since he was staying home we headed of to Lowe's to return some house stuff, and buy a down rod for our fan. Since we were down by Bed, Bath, & Beyond Mike stopped in and bought my Mothers day gift. He told me I can't use it until Saturday though. Anyway, after we got home he hung our fan, and the curtains in our room. After thinking it over though I think we are going to take down the curtains and not use them. Blinds are enough. Now all I have to do today is buy some light bulbs for our fan, and maybe an end table for between our chairs. We will see how I do today.

Mordecai has been waking up in the night this last week, mostly cause he has leaked out of his pajamas, and it is killing me!!! Not only in the middle of the night, but early in the morning too ughhh!!!!!!! Also I think our son needs a haircut since we can put into a Mohawk LOL. Oh-yeah I almost forgot our funny story this week. On Sunday we had home made chicken cord on bleu, red beans and rice, and fruit for dinner. Well Mordecai tasted the rice and decided that he really liked it and couldn't shovel it into his mouth fast enough. While Mike and I were commenting/laughing about it Emily pipes up, "Look at Mordecai going down to the town on his rice!" We laughed even harder about that.

Words

Tonight for family home evening we had a lesson on 'words'. We talked about swear/bad words and we also talked about words that we as a family don't use, and we talked about good words. We wrote the bad words in red on strips of paper and the good words in blue on strips of paper. After we wrote them and discussed them Emily crumpled up the bad words and then threw them in the trash. I think it was a pretty good lesson (thanks Mom). For a treat we had cinnamon rolls, YUMMY, and then the kids hit the sack since Mordecai only had one nap this morning from 8-10.

Right now Mike is up in our bedroom trying to install our ceiling fan. We got the blinds we ordered for our room this afternoon, and now all we need to hang is them and the curtains...BUT there will not be any pictures until this weekend.

Health and Home Update

Kidney Stone??? Well on Tuesday I got th call from my urologist. He said there isn't a stone on the left side, but that I have a small stone on the right side. It is called a 'punktade' I think. He said that it is smaller than a milimeter and that if he wasn't looking for one he wouldn't of seen it. I was told to drink plenty of fluids like I do, and to add some acidic fruits like lemonade, orange juice or a grapefruit. He also said that when and if it breaks of I should have no idea that I am passing it, unless it gets bigger, which it shouldn't. I was also told to get pregnant soon, so I know how my kidneys are, so please pray that it will be easy in both cases.

Our bedroom is almost finished. As of Thursday night Mike and I were done painting and moving our bedroom furniture back in so we could actually sleep in our own room on our own bed. We still need to hang the fan and stuff that belongs on the walls. For Mother's Day Mike is getting our new bedding, since we have had the previous stuff for almost 5 years (May 2004), so there will be no pictures until the room is complete. I love being in there with the door shut so all you can see is the new stuff, it makes me feel like I am in a brand new house. Anyway, Thursday night before the kids went to bed Emily was helping with some touch up paint, or so she thought, when all of a sudden we heard her say "da** it!" I immediately said, "What did you just say?" and she she said it again. After that Mike asked her where she learned that word and explained to her that just like the word 'poop' we don't say 'da**' either because it makes Heavenly Father and Jesus sad. She looked like she understood what we were saying. I guess Mike and I need to monitor what she is seeing on t.v. a little bit better.
