Man, there has been a lot of things happening lately and I feel I need to post them so I don't forget. So Grandma
Bainbridge was diagnosed with stage 4 carcinoma. Her colon was completely blocked and told the doctors she wanted to die and not have any surgery or preventative stuff done. The doctors told her that was fine, but of all the things to die from she didn't want to die from a blocked colon. She had her surgery on the 31st of August. The surgery was
successful, if you can say that, and she was allowed to move back home to Marsha and Blair's. She has had bouts of paranoia and dementia so Mom has gone down to help them out since most of the accusations are towards Marsha. The home health care nurses have only given her a short time to live, between a week and a month. She is a fighter, and has said she is scared because she doesn't know what to expect after death. At the same time it is comforting for our
family because of our beliefs and we know what comes next, but there
isn't a way of explaining that to her at this point. Before her surgery Mom said that her heart and blood pressure were in good condition, but now her liver and kidneys are failing so it probably will be a slow death.
In the mean time Mom went back to Tennessee on the 17
th to sign the papers on their house on the 18
th of September. Well she got home and that night had to take Daddy to the emergency room because he was having chest pain. *A little back round* While Mom was in Oklahoma with
Cherstin (Ellie's birth) Daddy had to have Bob take him to the emergency room for some similar pain. At first he thought it was just his acid reflux, but after some tests they found he had some Congestive Heart Defects. *Back to the Story* Well when mom took him in they ended up doing some surgery to put a
stint in one of his artery's because of blockage, and found that two other artery's have some thickening but should be okay if maintained by exercise and diet. After the surgery he was in the ICU for 8 hours, cause he needed to lay flat on his back for 8 hours cause 1) they were in his heart doing stuff and 2) they had to use heparin (blood thinner). All went well, and on Wednesday they saw the Cardiologist and were told it was a VERY small heart attack. SCARY!!!! Well he isn't
supposed to do anything
strenuous at all which is why Mike flew down to help Joey move them last night.
Well, after dropping Mike off at the airport the kids and I were driving home, and before I left I had this feeling that I needed to stay the regular 2 car spaces away from the person ahead of me, and be patient, not in a rush. So we were on 104
th and
Mackay (right before Colorado) going west when the person in front of me stopped suddenly so I had to stop. My first thought was, I am so glad that I listened to the prompting I had and stayed back, but just as I had that thought the lady behind me hit my back end. After making sure the kids were okay I pulled over and she followed. I got out of the car and the other driver was so shaky I felt bad for her. I called Mike, who was at the airport waiting to board, and his first question was "are you being serious?" Of course I was, who jokes about things like that? Anyway, he said since there wasn't any damage to our car we could probably exchange insurance, but to look at the back of our insurance to make sure what to do. It said to call them with any questions. I then called Daddy, cause I didn't want to sit on the side of the road all night waiting for my call to be answered. Dad said to call the Police so the accident was documented and that just in case the lady wanted to blame me or try to get us to pay for things we would have proof. So I called 911 and they sent the cops over. The cops took down a report and gave the lady a ticket for following to close behind me and we traded insurance. The one cop looking in my car saw that I only had 2 kids and said, "Not a typical
Mormon family are you?" I replied with a "No, guess not." and then he proceeded to tell me he was a member and then he just got home from Utah. He knew we were members from my
license plate holder Wanda and Robert gave us. Anyway, he said we did the right thing and told me that the best thing to do, even though there wasn't any visible damage to our car (the lady hit our hitch) was to call her insurance and tell them we would like to have the car looked at so we can make sure nothing is damaged underneath. After we were cleared to go, the kids and I hit McDonald's (our original destination) then home. After we were home the officer called to make sure we were okay. I feel so glad and happy that everyone was okay, and that I heeded the promptings I got.
Mike will be home Saturday night, and the kids miss him already. The whole way home from the airport Emily kept saying how much she misses her dad. When I got Mordecai out of his bed this morning we walked passed our room and he said "Dad" pointing to our bed. I think he wanted Dad to come and eat breakfast with us. Well that's it. I am done.
