When Ruby was about 10 or 11 months old she got her top front teeth. Soon after we thought that her lateral incisors were coming in, but sideways. Fast forward to her 1-year old check up when Dr. Miller commented on them being extra teeth. He said that he wasn't 100% sure, but to have the Dentist check her when I took the older two in. Perfect timing because the kids had a dental check up soon. Anyway, the Dentist did confirm they were extra but didn't want to remove them until they were causing problems. Well last month the kids had cleanings and when she checked Ruby she noticed a small cavity forming where it was super tight you could hardly brush let alone floss. Dr. Hymer told us not to worry about it unless it got bigger and started causing problems. Last week as I was brushing her teeth I noticed that the cavity had gotten bigger and that the bristles of her tooth brush could pass through to the other side. The next morning I made an appointment for Ruby to be checked out. They took X-Rays and set up an appointment for extractions the following week on the 12th.
Today was the day. I went to bed and woke up feeling sick for Ruby. Mike and I had tried to talk to her about it several times, and we don't know how much she understood, but every time we did she would get a worried look. Mike took her in for the appointment because I had Ivy who was napping at the time, and then I needed to pick Mordecai up from school if they weren't done on time. He said Ruby did well. She cried and was worried (she was awake and they didn't use any laughing gas because she wouldn't let them), but let Dr. Hymer do her work. She even "Thanked" them when they were done. They filled the cavity while they were working on her but because of all the blood they said it will fall out, but that when it does to call and they would fix it for free. I am so glad this is over...for now.
