The Rest of July

I signed Emily and I up to run a 5k bubble run. Mine and Marci joined us and it was really fun. The weeks prior Emily and I went on a couple of runs together. She talked the whole time, and twirls and runs backwards all while I'm just trying to breath. Haha. We plan on doing more runs together.

Later in July the kids and I drove up to Rock Springs, Wy to visit Felicia and her family but also to see Wanda and Rachel since they were driving through to pick Joseph up from BYU-I. It was a fun visit and makes me ache for family to be close again.

Last, but not least I graduated from the pathway program this month. I'm so glad I did it! I made some very good life long friends and I'm furthering my education.

Schools Out for the Summer

SCHOOL IS OUT! While I am sad to leave the teachers we had this year, so lucky to have Mrs. Hoff again and Mrs. Taylor, I am excited to not have to get up and going so early.

This morning Mordecai had breakfast in the park and a program that the kinders prepared songs for. Their teachers also handed out little certificates.

Emily's class cleaned out their remaining things and then had popcorn and movies.

It has been a great year!

Awards Ceremony

Emily and Mordecai had their awards ceremony this morning. I knew that Emily was going to get an award and was hoping that Mordecai wouldn't feel left out. I watched Mordecai's face when the kids were getting called up and realized he was realizing he wasn't getting awarded for anything. My heart just sank, but then they called his name for attendance and he just BEAMED. I am so sad tomorrow is the last day of school. Before Emily started school I thought it was silly when people would talk about how sad they were, but I am one of those. I feel like our kids have been extremely blessed with great teachers and I am sad for those associations and teachings to end.

Field Day

Today was field day for the kids. Ivy, Ruby, and I headed over this morning to watch and participate in the activities. Ruby and Ivy had fun playing on the new school playground and doing some of the activities with the kids classes. Its hard to believe there is only 2 days left of the school year. The kids have been really blessed with awesome teachers this year. Mrs. Hoff has been great for Mordecai. She understands boys and has helped encourage him along in his lazy/spacey times. Mrs. Taylor has recognized how advanced Emily is and has had many ways in helping her not be "bored" in class. Hopefully we continue on in the path of good teachers.

Peter Pan Jr.

Emily tried out for the school play this school year and made it. In the past the play tryouts have only been open to grades 3rd-6th. Last year was the first year they allowed K-2nd. Since Emily is a 2nd grader she only got a small part. She was an additional fairy but had tons of singing parts. Mrs. G., the drama teacher, thought that Emily did so well during practice and has such a good voice that she allowed her to do another girls part (Elisabeth Smith's) during the schools Tuesday day performance. This was a good chance for Emily to experience the stage, and she loved it. It was tons of practices on her part. First, practices were Tuesday's and Thursday until 4:30 pm. Then they slowly got longer and at the end practices were 4 days a week until 6:30 pm. These days were long and hard, not to mention piano lessons and practice, homework and soccer practice. The actual play performances were Tuesday May 13, 2014 and Thursday May 15, 2014. She performed both days and nights and did excellent!

First Day of School 2013

Today was the first day of school. I can't believe that Mordecai is in kindergarten and Emily in second. Time really does fly once you have a kid in school! It was really weird having only Ruby and Ivy at home. Ivy napped for a good two hours so Ruby and I played Barbies.

Emily has Mrs. Taylor and Mordecai has Mrs. Hoff.  We are so excited that she is back and that she remembered Mordecai (from Emily being in her kindergarten class) and chose him to be in her class. Mordecai was more than ready for school. He walked right in and sat down. Mike said he looked so excited. I missed him tons though because I am so used to having him here.

May Catch Up

Jason, Mike's sister Julie's husband, moved in the beginning of this month for an internship in Denver this summer. It hasn't taken long for him to settle in. He has been such a big help with yard work and watching the kids so we can go out on dates.

For Mothers Day Mike took me out to Olive Garden and we only had Ivy. It was amazing how quiet dinner was and how Mike and I could talk without being interrupted or having to help someone.

My birthday also happened. The big 30. Felicia and Tom were here also because they were on their way back from an interview in Kansas. We went to Que Bueno for dinner, and then home to just visit and sleep.

Mike's parents also came out for Memorial Day weekend. They were able to attend Emily's field day and just enjoy the kids. I also enrolled Mordecai and Emily for the following school year. It is kind of crazy to think that my little mister is starting kindergarten. :-(

School ended the 30th and Emily cried. She has been incredibly lucky to have had such awesome teachers for kindergarten and 1st grade. She helped make this teacher gift for Mrs. Welch.
