Memorial Day

So our Memorial Day weekend was FABULOUS. Friday morning we did some errands, then we came home and Mike and I started on painting the dinning room (pictures to come). About 4:00, the time I start thinking about what to make for dinner, Mike and I decided we were going to go on a last minute date pending we found a babysitter. We did, and the kids loved her. Mike and I hit Cinebarre and loved it. Usually when date night comes we choose either a movie or dinner, because I am cheap and don't want to pay for a sitter longer than we have to. This was perfect though because we had dinner and a movie at the same time. Iron Man 2 was good, even though I couldn't and still can't remember what happened in the first one. When we got home both kids were zonked on the couch, and the babysitter told us that right before Mordecai fell asleep he was crying for his daddy and very sad...so Emily being the wonderful big sister she is sang him songs, rubbed him and got him toys to comfort him until he fell asleep.

Saturday was super busy. It was the first day the pool was open, so once Mike got home from his early morning bike ride we hit the pool. We were there for about 2.5 hours. Both kids loved the pool and Mordecai had a wonderful afternoon nap, which he doesn't seem to take anymore. After lunch Mike and I tried to finish our painting project (Dinning Room), but no luck, cause we had to head out to a graduation party from a kid in our old ward. After the party we had to head home to prepare dinner for the elders.

Sunday was the same ol' , same ol'. There was this couple that was supposed to be here for the summer and we watched them come into Sacrament before it started, sit for a minute, and then they just got up and left. It bothered Mike a lot and me some (I had the kids) so we got their number after church and had them over for dinner. They were really young and naive about the cost of living out here so they are headed back to Orem this week. With Mike's calling it seems we have people over for dinner all the time.

Monday morning Mike got up really early to go bike riding with some guys in our ward. He met at this guys house at 6:30, crazy. Anyway, while he was gone in his 30 mile ride the kids and I did our usual Monday morning routine of cleaning the main level and washing bedding and towels. Once we were all back together we made it to the nursery to buy our veggie plants. We got 2 green zucchini and 2 tomato plants. I was feeling adventurous so we planted 2 watermelon plants as well. Hopefully they come out ;p After we got those planted we planted flowers for my hanging baskets out front...I think I am starting to be my mom. We had a BBQ at the Bowen's, whom we love, and the food was wonderful. I am fully convinced that Brett should quit his day job and become a chef. The meat for the fajitas was P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Oh so tender and juicy and flavorful. Anyway, it was great company, and a great weekend with the family.

I am very grateful for the troops that we have that are supporting us and our freedom, and I am honored to know some personally. My Dad and my father in-law, along with an aunt and 2 uncles, my brother and 2 brother in-laws. I will be eternally grateful to those who have lost their lives for our country and for me and my family that we may have the freedoms and liberties we have. Thank You!

These are some random pictures of the kids. This just goes to show I don't need to by my kids any toys. They went down to the basement and emptied out all of my wrapping paper and played in this thing for about 2 hours. They wheeled each other around the house and then read books in it.

Mordecai fell asleep on the floor about 5:30, usually not OK but we were going to have a late night, and Emily plastered him with some stickers.
