Decemeber 2010

I am a little behind on my Christmas/December journaling, but it is better late than never. The Primary had a part in the Christmas Sacrament Meeting Program and Emily was so excited.  They sang "When Joseph Went to Bethlehem", and "Mary's Lullaby".  We still here her singing them at least once a day.  Mike sang with the ward choir last minute because the choir director kind of cornered him and begged for help.  Ha Ha.

Christmas Eve was an interesting night.  We had dinner at the Larson's, friend from the ward, and the food was great.  The only bad thing was that they have a dog, and Mordecai is allergic and we knew that.  The dog was supposed to be hypoallergenic, and when he was playing with her he didn't break out so we figured he was fine.  Well the smart parents we are didn't think about washing his hands when left and when we got in the car to go home Mordecai immediately started sucking his finger like he does when he is tired.  When we got home he started rubbing his eyes and ears so we gave him some Benedryl and put him to bed.  He slept for about 5 minutes when he started to complain and cry and say that he hurt, and this would occur every time he fell asleep.  We called the after hours doctor from his pediatrician office and they said that the allergy to the dog probably aggravated the left over fluid in his ear.  Just about the time we decided to take him to the E.R. he seemed to be better and slept fine that night, which was nice because it seems like every major Holiday these last 2 years have been spent in the E.R.

Christmas day was awesome!  It was nice to be home with just our family, but we also missed the extended family things too.  Santa brought the kids a Mobigo, since they always ask to play the itouch, and a basketball hoop since Mordecai loves basketballs.  Emily continues to amaze us at how athletic she is.

This year was hard for Mike and I. We didn't know what to tell the other one to get, since we typically just go out and by what we want when we want it. I ended up getting Mike some arm warmers, bike jersey and gift card to buy more road bike stuff since he got his road bike this past summer.  He got me an external hard drive (1 TB) and a wireless mouse, along with all the house repairs I have wanted.  The other big hits this Christmas were Gator Golf, a Batman Puzzle, and Aunt Felicia's gift of the Rapunzel wig and dress.

Since Christmas we have seen a lot of this.

Yesterday we finally got some snow, first 'real' snow of  the year, and Emily has been begging to go sledding.  Mike finally took her out this afternoon since I couldn't because I am pregnant, which is amazing since he HATES the cold and snow.

Other big things happening around here are that Mordecai is basically potty trained.  We started on Monday this last week and since then he has only had 4 accidents out of  5 days. Three the first day, and one this morning.  The one this morning was stinky but I think he couldn't hold it in because it was loose from the Mira lax we had given him.  He has been on Mira lax for the last year or so since he hold his BM's in, so we need to find the right amount to keep him soft but not runny.

Tonight is New Years Eve.  No big plans, just Papa Murphy's pizza which has become tradition.  Tomorrow is B.C. and Julie's wedding so that is an all day event since Mike is the best man.  I can't think of anything else, so here is to a wonderful and prosperous New Year!
